Top 50 payments leaders of 2026 named

The second annual Payments Power 50 list has named 40 companies and 10 industry influencers shaping the global payments sector, highlighting work in fraud prevention, open banking, cross-border transactions, and digital wallets.
The 2026 edition arrives as merchants push for higher approval rates and providers face pressure to improve resilience and compliance. Banks, meanwhile, are exploring new ways to support open banking and settlement systems.
Who made the list
The selected companies span payment orchestration, processing, acquiring, identity verification, embedded finance, and compliance technology. Among the honorees are Aevi, Compass Plus Technologies, Ecommpay, INFORM, Paymentology, ProgressSoft Corporation, sends, Sis ID, Sokin, and XTransfer.
The full list is published in the annual guide and on the organization’s website. Ten industry influencers were also recognized for their role in shaping debate and advancing the sector.
Jason Williams, CEO of The Power 50, said the list reflects a shift from big ideas to execution. “The industry is now being judged on delivery,” he said. “Can money move safely, quickly and reliably? Can businesses reduce failed transactions, protect customers, improve merchant performance and support new ways to pay and settle?”
The companies and individuals on the list, Williams added, are “working on the systems, services and ideas that keep modern commerce moving.”

Why the list matters
The Payments Power 50 is designed to recognize work that often happens behind the scenes—infrastructure, controls, and services that ensure transactions are fast, secure, and reliable. The selection process considers the scale and variety of contributions across the payments ecosystem.
Honorees gain access to networking events, content opportunities, and year-round industry engagement. The list is supported by partners including MPE, The Hoffman Agency, The Payments Association, and The Paypers.
Payments have become a commercial battleground, with providers competing to offer better fraud controls, faster settlements, and more flexible payment options. The list captures that competition, showing where the industry is investing its resources.
For merchants, the stakes are high. Failed transactions cost revenue, and customers expect seamless experiences. For banks, the challenge is balancing innovation with regulation. The companies on this year’s list are building the tools to address both.
The Power 50 itself is a media platform and networking hub for influential figures in payments and fintech. Its annual guides aim to spotlight the most innovative companies and personalities driving the industry forward.
The 2026 guide is available online, with honorees featured in the publication and across the organization’s digital channels.
